Translation Guidelines

  • Keep keys unchanged - Only translate the values
  • Preserve placeholders - Keep {0}, {1} format specifiers
  • Maintain consistency - Use same translations for repeated terms
  • Consider context - Understand where the text appears
  • Keep it concise - Long translations may not fit in the UI
  • Use proper encoding - UTF-8 for all non-Latin scripts

🔧 Technical Details

OSR Studio uses a JSON-based localization system:

  • Format: Simple key-value pairs in JSON
  • Default Language: English (en.json) serves as fallback
  • Runtime Loading: Translations load automatically at startup
  • Language Switching: Users can change languages without restart
  • Fallback System: Missing translations fall back to English

🎯 Pro Tip: Even partial translations are valuable! If you translate 80% of the strings, users will see your translations with English fallback for the remaining 20%.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Can I submit a partial translation?

Yes! Partial translations are welcome. The system automatically falls back to English for missing strings.

How do I know if my language code is correct?

Use standard ISO 639-1 codes. For regional variants, use the format: language-REGION (e.g., pt-BR, zh-CN).

Will my translation be reviewed?

Yes, all translation contributions are reviewed for format correctness and ideally by native speakers in the community.
